Supplemental oxygenation and ventilation support

Adults on supplemental oxygen should be closely monitoring for worsening respiratory status. For those with acute hypoxemic respiratory failure despite conventional oxygen therapy, a high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) oxygen is recommended over noninvasive positive pressure ventilation (NIPPV). If necessary intubation should be performed by an experienced practitioner in a controlled setting. Keywords: medical care, dental care
