Establish objective discharge criteria for discharge directly home

Objective discharge criteria after hip or knee replacement surgery defines when patients are ready to return home. The criteria should include activities of daily living such as ability to dress, ability to move into or out of bed, ability to sit and rise from a chair or toilet, ability to otherwise perform essential personal care activities, and ability to ambulate more than 70 meters with mechanical assistance such as crutches or a walker.
