Prepare for surge in patients

Hospital preparedness plans will incorporate information from state, regional, tribal and local health departments, emergency management agencies, hospital associations, and suppliers of resources. The preparedness plan must prevent the spread of disease in the facility, identify and isolate possible cases, care for patients, and prepare to handle a larger number of patients while maintaining ability to care for routine patients. Access to beds, ventilators, medications, and personal protective equipment considerations should be addressed.
