Prone position

Proning is a recommended strategy used for persons with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) for the improvement of oxygenation. Despite promising data, it is unclear which individuals would benefit from prone positioning, the length of time prone positioning should be continued, or if the technique prevents the need for intubation or improves survival. It should not be used as a rescue therapy for refractory hypoxemia to avoid intubation in patients who otherwise require intubation and mechanical ventilation. Keywords: Turn over, dyspnea
