Standard and transmission-based precautions

A facemask should be worn at all times while in a healthcare facility, including in breakrooms or other spaces where healthcare personnel might encounter co-workers. Healthcare personnel should apply standard precautions according to risk assessment for all patients, at all times. For suspected and confirmed cases, contact, and droplet or airborne precautions should be applied to contain secretions. Use a respirator (or face mask if a respirator is not available), gown, gloves, and eye protection (goggles or a disposable face shield that covers the front and sides of the face) when entering the room of a patient with known or suspected cases, or when having to perform aerosol-generating procedures.
