Strategies for coping with grief and loss

It is important to find ways to cope while experiencing grief and loss. During the pandemic, the typical ways to do this must be altered in an effort to maintain physical distance and continue to keep yourself safe. Reading books about grief and loss can help you cope. If you have children, read age-appropriate books with them and talk with them about how they are feeling. Take part in an activity that has significance to you and the loved one you have lost, such as planting flowers or a tree or preparing a favorite meal, in memory of your loved one. Talk with others by phone or video call to stay connected, and use support groups or counseling to help you cope. Key words: crisis, support, stress
